Lexus International president Yoshihiro Sawa has maintained his vision for the brand to “explore new ways to deliver innovative and amazing experiences.” This on-going evaluation of what constitutes a luxury experience has already enable Lexus to venture into the worlds of fine dining, design and film, offering our guests alternative opportunities to interact with the brand.
Lexus LY 650 luxury yacht
The new Lexus LY 650 luxury yacht provides further proof of our exploration of new frontiers both inside and outside the automotive industry. Bearing the most contemporary expression of Lexus design language, the production LY 650 picks up where the stunning Lexus Sport Yacht Concept left off.
Positive public reaction to the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept fuelled a concerted follow-up effort. In revealing the new maritime project, Shigeki Tomoyama, executive vice president of Lexus International, spoke of his desire to “present a dream-like vision of the luxury lifestyle, one where the Lexus Yacht expands the potential of Lexus mobility to the ocean.”
Making this vision a reality, Lexus selected the Marquis-Larson Boat Group to produce, sell and service the new Lexus LY 650. This decision was based on the Wisconsin-based company’s extensive experience in bespoke boat building and proven capability, confirmed by its work in bringing the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept to life.
Marquis-Larson will bring this second chapter of Lexus yacht design to fruition through its blend of artisanal craftsmanship, modern technology and inspired design. Many of the masterful boat builders have been with the company for over 30 years, a length of dedicated service that complements Lexus’s renowned heritage of supremely skilled takumi craftspeople.
Several of the most attractive features from the concept have made their way on to the LY 650. Measuring 65 feet long and 19 feet across its beam, the new Lexus yacht offers a distinguished style through its strong, pronounced bow, curved deck accents and accentuated aft hips. Viewed in profile, the elegant rise and fall of the yacht’s distinctly Lexus roofline flows into the broad, rising hips of the rear section.
The first completed Lexus LY 650 is expected to be finished in the second half of 2019 and will make its global debut later that year.
