Catalytic converter theft: what you need to know

The theft of catalytic converters from cars isn’t a new crime, but it has increased significantly in 2019.

Police forces around the UK, including those in West Yorkshire, London and Nottinghamshire, are advising owners of any car fitted with a catalytic converter to take precautions.

Any car fitted with a catalytic converter within the exhaust system could be at risk. In the case of Lexus, we are aware that second-generation Lexus RX 400h models (2005-2008) have been a target for thieves.

Below we’ve gathered the best advice for Lexus owners who may be concerned.

What is a catalytic converter?

The catalytic converter is part of the car’s emissions control system. It cleans up the exhaust gases before they are expelled from the car through the exhaust pipe. Its internal elements react with the gases, breaking them down into less harmful substances and water vapour. All cars sold in Europe since 1993 have had to be fitted with catalytic converter by law.

Why are they a target for thieves?

The police are best placed to offer advice on the motivation behind crimes. But we understand that the recycling value of catalytic converters is the primary attraction to thieves because it contains precious metals such as rhodium, platinum and palladium.

What is Lexus doing to stop its cars being targeted?

We’re doing all we can. We’ve shared police guidance with customers, and are seeking technical solutions, although for obvious reasons we would like to refrain from talking about specifics.

We are also working with the police, as well as talking to government about changes in the law around scrap metal sales that would make it harder for criminals to sell stolen catalysts for cash.

However, these are criminal operations and our scope is therefore limited. A number of police forces are taking action and some forces, such as Nottinghamshire, are also starting awareness campaigns. It is vitally important for anyone who is a victim of this crime to report it to their local police force as quickly as possible.

In the main it remains older cars that are targeted because advances in efficiency and technology mean the latest generations of Toyota catalytic converters contain vastly lower amounts of precious metals, whilst still doing their job just as well or even better; this means their value for recycling is very low and they are not attractive to thieves.

How much does it cost to replace a catalytic converter?

Our priority is to do all we can to support Lexus customers who have been the victims of catalytic converter theft.

We have reduced the prices of catalytic converters to a level where Lexus UK does not make any profit from their supply to.

Our reduced price for the installation of a new catalytic converter for the second-generation Lexus RX 400h is now £750 including VAT and fitting. Your nearest Lexus centre can advise on any additional repair costs after inspecting your vehicle.

How long will I have to wait for replacement parts?

The rapid rise in this crime is one we could not have envisaged set against many years of low incidence of thefts. It has impacted our ability to source a sufficient quantity of replacement parts, for which we sincerely apologise.

However, we are taking urgent action with our suppliers to secure increased supplies, which we hope will allow us to effectively tackle the supply issue and repair customers’ cars more quickly.

Who can I contact if I’m worried about my Lexus?

We recommend using our locator tool to find your nearest Lexus centre and contact them to discuss the next steps for your car.

  1. Hello
My catalytic converter of RX400h was stolen a day ago. I didn’t know it until police informed me this morning!
I read all the comments here and note it’s a significant issue for this type of models.

Why didn’t Lexus warn owners of this specific model as they are at higher risk?(Acknowledge other models are also at risk).

Please warn relevant owners asap to take practical precautions and to minimise the risk of it happening again!

    Thank you

    1. Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime. We deeply appreciate your concerns over this type of theft and would like to put you in touch with our customer relations team. Our team are best placed to answer any queries you may have and we will email you directly to discuss this in more detail.

      Thanks.

        1. Hi Samson,

Thanks for getting back in touch. We don’t currently offer a Catloc device for any Lexus vehicles, however we are urgently seeking other technical solutions to help our customers.

          Thanks.

      1. I have just had the catalytic converter stolen off my car in a busy car park.
I have been advised that this could happen again once replaced is there anything I can do to prevent this.

        1. Hi Anna,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime. We have Catlocs available for RX400h and the Lexus CT and we would recommend contacting your nearest Lexus centre for more information.

          Thanks.

      2. Hi, yesterday they stole my catalytic converter for the 2nd time and I would like to part exchange for another Lexus however will the newer model NX or RX be open to cat theft as well?

        1. Hi Tijen,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime. In theory, any car with a catalytic converter is at risk of this type of theft. However, we are producing Catlocs for vehicles deemed most at risk and we currently don’t produce them for either the current generation RX or NX.

          Thanks.

      3. Happened to me too. Both the dealer and insurance company knew about the rise in theft but didn’t inform owners. Nor is lexus paying for fitting a cat lock for this design oversight. Unlikely to buy another lexus. So much for customer service.

        1. Hi SM,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been affected by this crime. We have tried to ensure as many of our customers as possible are aware. We published police advice on this crime as soon as it could online, wrote to our dealer network to brief customers and wrote directly to owners of a number of our vehicles where we had details to do so.

Currently, we are also engaging with Home Office, Local MPs, Met Police (OVCU) and the Assistant Chief Constable of Cheshire Police (Jenny Sims) who is also the National Lead for all vehicle crime. All of this will raise the profile of this crime with all police forces and identify issues with current legislation.

If you would like to discuss your situation further with our customer relations team, you can find the contact details here: https://www.lexus.co.uk/concierge-tool/contact-us/

          Thanks.

  2. My Mum (who has a Lexus service plan) has just had her catalytic convertor stolen today from her Lexus RX400h in a supermarket car park. We are also baffled why she has never had an email from Lexus warning of this awful crime! I have put her email and name in the contact box. Could customer relations please get in touch with her ASAP please.

    1. Hi Moira,

Thanks for your message. We are so sorry to hear your mum has been impacted by this crime. Our customer relations team are assessing cases on an individual basis so as to provide the best support, and they will be in touch as soon as possible.

      Thanks.

  3. catalytic converter of RX400h was just 12 hours ago, i just parked my car and came back after 15-20 minutes and catalytic converter gone already , they are very professional to steal it.

    1. Hi Adem,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry to hear about this. We appreciate the severity of this situation and are working to support all our customers who have been affected by this crime. We will email you directly to gain additional details and put you in touch with our customer relations team.

      Thanks.

  4. I have just been a victim of this awful crime, completely gutted that my lovely car has been stolen from, not to mention the cost of putting it right, I was in a retail car park in Cheltenham, a place I visit often as down the road from where I work, I was only there 15/20 minutes max, can’t believe this has happened. Why have I not been warned

    1. Hi Lynn,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime. Our customer relations team will be able to support you further in any way we can and we will email you directly to discuss this with you.

      Thanks.

  5. Hi
You mention a specific Model and a Date range above so does this mean a new NX for example is not likely to be a “target” … and more to the point do the vermin doing this know that ?

    1. Hi Bill,

Thanks for getting in touch. Due to the high-grade power saws used to remove the catalyst, in theory any car with a catalytic converter is at risk of theft.

      Thanks.

  6. It’s not just Lexus, this is a huge problem that’s not going away. The UK police need to do more in general. SInce October 2019 we have had our cat stolen from our Honda CR-V twice and also our Honda Civic THREE ATTACKS! We have lost both our cars and are being forced to change our plans and move house to escape the fear of being targeted a fourth time. They just wont leave us alone. It’s meant I will likely have to close my business for moving. Utter disgust for the pieces of filth who freely conduct themselves in this cowardly and sensless way. Spineless.

  7. I had my stolen on the 10th
I have had to go through my insurance company! Now I’m worried about it happening again! Once my car is fixed and returned
Please can you advise on the best catalytic prevention system on the market ? There’s so many and I don’t want to buy a load of rubbish that’s won’t work!
    Many thanks

    1. Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for getting in touch with us. We are so sorry to hear about this. Our customer relations team are best placed to answer questions and to help you further with this. We will email you directly to gain additional details in regards to opening a case on your behalf.

      Thanks.

    2. We feel exactly the same – we had ours stolen in the last 24 hours but reluctant to spend the money on a new one in case they come back.

      1. Hi There,

Thanks for getting in touch with us about this. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime. We will email you directly in order to gain additional details and put you in touch with our customer relations team.

        Thanks.

  8. RX400h driver here, CAT stolen on 5th November 2019. Replaced via Insurance and 9 days after the car is returned to me the CAT stolen again yesterday. This is epidemic levels yet no-one can provide a viable deterrent. The irony here is that most of the precious metals in these stolen CATs ends up back in new CATs. Come up with a better location for the CAT or a better solution, not just ‘contact your local Lexus service centre’.

    1. Hi There,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are incredibly sorry to hear about this. We will email you directly in order to gain additional details of your situation in order to put you in touch with our customer relations team who will be able to help you further.

      Thanks.

  9. Lexus as usually skyrockets the prices for everything done at their centre, £750 is that no profit to Lexus ? They are laughing on us, people stop using them unless it’s a minor service, they are the biggest thieves.
They tried to charge me over £6000 for what’s at local garage £600.
My catalyst converter stolen today, local garage supplies and fits Chinese catalyst converter on the day for £250

    1. Hi Alex,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry to hear about this. We would like to help you further by putting you in touch with our customer relations team. They are best placed to discuss your situation with you in more detail and provide you with support in any way we can. We will email you directly in order to gain additional details and open a case with them on your behalf.

      Thanks.

    2. Hi Alex,

Could you please give me the details of your garage? I am going through the same issue and it is very expensive to fix at Lexus.

  10. 2nd catalytic convertor stolen from my RX400h (2008) in the last 4 months. I waited three months for the last one to come in and now this has happened again. This was in a retail outlet car park, and it took 1 minute from when I drove into the car park for it to be stolen. I’m so upset by this, and the inconvenience it will cause. I need to sell this car now, once fixed, as I can’t afford the inconvenience this is causing. I just hope the part is available quicker than last time.

    1. Hi Sanj,

Thanks for getting in touch with us. We are incredibly sorry to hear you have been a victim of this crime for a second time. We are doing all we can to support our customers in this and we will email yo directly in order to gain additional details and put you in touch with our customer relations team.

We can also now confirm that Catlocs are available for RX400h and the Lexus CT. We would recommend contacting your nearest Lexus centre for more information. You can find your nearest centre via this link: https://www.lexus.co.uk/forms/find-a-centre

      Thanks.

      1. Thank You – I have sent a message through to customer relations. I don’t think there is anything you can really do unless you alter the design and provide a catloc as default. When I called Lexus they said a catloc was £250….

  11. Had mine stolen last night on my drive RX 400H ..Lexus your price is way too much £750 You have to better for your customers..Why were we not informed more of this epidemic .

    1. Hi Gaz,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry to hear you have been a victim of this crime. We would like to help you further by putting you in touch with our customer relations team and we will email you directly regarding this.

      Thanks.

  12. I had mine stolen yesterday, from Leatherhead Station Car Park.
When I phoned my nearest Lexus dealer and asked about the reduced replacement price of £750, they hadn’t heard of it.
They had a reduced price of £821.54 for the part, and with labour they quoted a total of £935.
Either the information in the article above is wrong or the information hasn’t been rolled out to all of the dealerships. Either way it isn’t great.

    1. Hi Mark,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime. We appreciate your concerns and will email you directly in order to gain additional details and open a case with our customer relations team on your behalf. They are best placed to help with your queries.

      Thanks.

  13. The catalytic converter on my Lexus Rx400H was stolen this afternoon. The vehicle was parked not far from my flat on a central London residential road. I would like to get my car back on the road asap but don’t want to spend £750 and then see it happen again (as I have heard has happened to others). Also, just looking at the images online, it isn’t clear to me how a catloc is going to stop somebody with an angle grinder. Can you please have somebody at Lexus contact me to discuss this. I called Lexus Nine Elms this afternoon and nobody picked up. Thanks

    1. Hi Jeremy,

We’re very sorry to hear that your vehicle has been targeted by thieves. We will of course put you in touch with our customer relations team. In order to do that, we will email you directly requesting further information.

      Thanks

  14. We had our rx400h catalytic converter stolen yesterday in daytime outside my inlaws house in a cul de sac. Their neighbour has the same car. They stole both within minutes with an angle grinder/ electric saw. They didn’t care that the people in the road came out to stop them. They just carried on. Cctv cameras on the drives but they knew where they were and clever avoided facing them. Police didn’t show up. Insurance said it’s a right off at first but I argued the toss and they’re going to replace it. Everyone knows it’s likely to happen again As it’s so easy for them- so it’s going to have to be time to replace the car soon before it happens again. I wasn’t aware of a cheaper Chinese version which may come in useful next time!

    1. Hi Ravi,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime and for the distress this may have caused. We are working to support all our customers who have been impacted by this situation and we will email you directly in order to put you in touch with our customer relations team.

      Thanks.

    1. Hi Vim,

Thanks for getting in touch. That’s not a silly question at all. If the catalytic converter has been stolen, as you turn the car on and start to drive you will notice a much louder noise coming from underneath the car. In addition, if you were to then inspect where the noise is coming from you would notice some damage from the theft and be able to see the area where the Catalytic converter was.

      Thanks.

  15. Hi Lexus,

I pretty much have same issues as some of the commenters above. My cat converter was stolen last monday and i have been to the Lexus at Rayleigh in Southend but they do not appear to know about this £750 price package. Please can you advice.

    1. Hi Marianne,

Thanks for contacting us. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime. Our customer relations team are best placed to help you further with this and we will email you directly in order to put you in touch with them.

      Thanks.

  16. Mine was stolen yesterday outside my house. Which is the best way to go? Insurance or fork out for Chinese make.
    James Mubirigwe

    1. Hi James,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are incredibly sorry you have been a victim of this crime. We will email you directly in order to gain additional details and put you in touch with our customer relations team. They are best placed to support you further with this.

      Thanks.

  17. I own a Lexus RX 350 (2007). The cat converter was stolen today in a car park. The police informed me this was a very common problem with the Lexus’s of this age and they had received multiple reports. I quick search brought me here.
I have to stay I am astonished that Lexus has not been proactive in warning owners of this issue — somehow I knew nothing about it.
My insurance is helping but I will pay a significant excess.
Does the cat protector work (more expense).
    Mike

    1. Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are deeply sorry you have been impacted by this crime. We are working to support all our customers who have been impacted by this crime and we will email you directly in order to put you in touch with our customer relations team. They are best placed to discuss your situation in more detail and offer support in any way we can.

  18. The catalytic converter on my Lexus Rx400H was stolen a few days ago too….. It is quite shocking how common this problem appears to be and may be time to sell and buy another car.

    1. Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime. We are working to support all our customers who have been impacted by this crime and we will email you directly with more details.

      Thanks.

  19. Hi there, is the IS 300h as much at risk as the RX and CT models? Are you planning to offer the option of a catloc for the IS 300h? Thanks

  20. Sadly our Lexus RX400H has just had its newly replaced Cat converter stolen again – it’s only been 3 weeks since we got it replaced (waited 8 weeks for part to become available) – (1st theft wasn’t 11am with a 2 person gang – 1 with a truncheon threateningly held at the door in case we answered the doorbell whilst his accomplice stole th CC) the 2nd was midnight last night – we have been waiting for new Kevlar device to become available as we were told the locks caused more damage when cut off that’s just the CC.. is that correct.. so sad as we love the car but it’s looking like we can’t keep it as we need our car for our disabled dog 😞🐾

    1. Hi Colette,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime. We appreciate the severity of this situation and are working to support all our customers who have been impacted. We would recommend contacting your nearest Lexus centre to discuss a replacement catalytic converter and having a Catloc fitted. You can find your nearest centre via this link: https://www.lexus.co.uk/forms/find-a-centre

      Thanks.

  21. Just had our catalytic converter stolen from our lexus rx400h for second time in 3 months only had it back for 2 weeks and gone again. Garage told me catloc was waste of time as the thieves just cut through the chassis and cause more damage. Not sure what to do now, probably have to sell car and find a less attractive model.

  22. Hi,
The catalytic converter and the exhaust of my car Lexus hybrid 200h ct was stollen yesterday. The alarm of my car went off and it toke me less than a min to get to my car and the part was in their hand and they drove off. I am wondering in what way Lexus is going to help its customers and what precautions are there for those who have been the victim and what help can Lexus offer so it cannot get stollen again? Any protectors for the catalytic converters? It only takes a min for the thieves to take it out. So what can Lexus offer to make it impossible to be taken out?

    1. Hi Mariam,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime. We would recommend visiting your nearest Lexus centre to discuss a replacement catalytic converter and having a Catloc fitted as a preventative measure against this theft. You can find your nearest Lexus centre via this link: https://www.lexus.co.uk/forms/find-a-centre

In addition to this, we are engaging with the Home Office, Local MPs, Met Police (OVCU) and the Assistant Chief Constable of Cheshire Police (Jenny Sims) who is also the National Lead for all vehicle crime. All of this will raise the profile of this crime with all police forces and identify issues with current legislation.

      Thanks.

      1. Had my cat stolen last week. Police said very common problem with rx400h. Why Lexus or DVLA. not inform owners. Is the steel net guard worth investing? Will the scum cut through that as well. Why don’t Lexus bring out a cheaper cat?

  23. Hi, I had mine stolen from Cobham station car park last Friday 7th Feb, however when contacting my insurance company I was told that this is becoming a trend and that they deal with this type of calls 2 – 3 times a week.

Apparently, the police is also aware, as it’s a nationwide problem. It’s sad to see that it’s mainly hybrid cars which are targeted for their precious metals inside their catalytic converters.

More importantly, I was never warned I needed to take extra care and to protect this with an anti theft device.

Can you advice what the cost of this would be to have installed by Lexus please?

    Thanks,
    Zoe-Anne

    1. Hi Zoe-Anne,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime. We currently have Catlocs available for RX and CT and would recommend contacting your nearest Lexus Centre for further help regarding having a Catloc fitted. You can find your nearest Lexus centre via this link: https://www.lexus.co.uk/forms/find-a-centre

In addition, please be aware we are engaging with Home Office, Local MPs, Met Police (OVCU) and the Assistant Chief Constable of Cheshire Police (Jenny Sims) who is also the National Lead for all vehicle crime. All of this will raise the profile of this crime with all police forces and identify issues with current legislation.

      Thanks.

  24. My local Lexus centre cannot find the part number for the Catloc to suit my CT200h. The car is with them until Wednesday 12th.
Can you help by confirming that such a part exists and providing the part number, please?

  25. On 30th January my 2005 Lexus RX400H SE had the catalytic converter stolen and the drivers window smashed to steal the dash cam. I would advise any with a car using a catalytic converter and has a dash cam to remove the dash cam when parking to avoid having your window smashed as this increases the cost of repairs considerably and the mess the shattered glass causes. I have had this car from new and due to its age the insurance company had decided it is beyond economic repair and declared it a total loss. This has obviously caused me to be forced into a decision about the car which I was very happy with and as going to keep it for as long as it would keep going. It happened in a council car park in Elstree as we were visiting to be in the audience at a recording of the Chase. We arrived at the car park at 12:45 and returned to the car at 18:45 to find the damage. When then had to 3 hours for a recovery vehicle to collect the car and then arrange for a taxis to take us home. We arrived home at 01:00. What should have been a memorable experience in a positive way was ruined by scum bags.

    1. Hi Ray,

    1. Hi Shahil,

No. We only provide Catlocs for vehicles that are being targeted by thieves, and NX is not one of those vehicles. Thieves tend to target older vehicles due to the higher concentration of precious metals in the catalyst. Newer models, like yours have far less precious metal.

      Thanks

      Thanks.

  26. I had my cat stolen from the NEC car park last Friday 14th Feb, it is being replaced today via my insurance. Can lexus give information on the Carlos they have, costs etc

    1. Hi Trevor,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are sorry you have been a victim of this crime. We have Catlocs available for RX400h and the Lexus CT. Regarding costs, For RX we have a bundle price of £850 for a replacement catalytic converter and Catloc and £1050 for CT. However, for exact prices we would recommend contacting your nearest Lexus centre as they will be able to advise on any additional repair costs after inspecting your vehicle.

      Thanks.

      1. LEXUS UK could you confirm any details we need to quote in relation to the bundle price as Lexus Twickenham have no information about this?

        1. Hi Tom,

Thanks for getting in touch. We’re sorry to hear this. The part number for RX is 17420-20400 (RX) and for CT it is 17410-20400 (CT). The centre should be able to access more information using this.

          Thanks.

  27. Hi,
My CT catalyst converter stolen today. May I know if the parts are available or if there is any waiting period? Also, how much Cataloc will costs on its own?

        1. Hi SM,

Thanks for getting back in touch.

We are doing all we can to minimise the inconvenience to impacted customer as much as possible. We treat all cases on a one by one basis and our Customer Relations team will look at your case and consider offering a courtesy vehicle FOC where Insurance providers will not cover this cost.

We have also developed and are supplying theft deterrent devices at zero profit and are working with insurers to minimise the impact on consumers.

          Thanks.

  28. My RX400 Catalytic Converter was stolen while my car was parked outside my house. Like many of the people on this thread, I’m disappointed that Lexus hasn’t recalled the vehicles and provided a solution. I will more than likely sell my car as I can’t risk it happening again.

    1. Hi Jay,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been a victim of this crime.

  29. In December 2019 I had my whole exhaust system stolen from my RX400h. Finding out how much a replacement would cost via Lexus I went through my insurance, paying £500 excess. After it was repaired, on Lexus advice, I had at CATLOC fitted by Lexus, cost £275. Last week there was a failed attempt to remove the catalytic converter, it had been cut from the rest of the exhaust but was still attached to the CATLOC. While waiting for the car to be collected for welding it back to the system we had another overnight visit. The catalytic converter is gone but the CATLOC is still attached to my car.
So to the many others in this situation a CATLOC is not the answer and Lexus needs to do much better and to stop taking money for ineffective solutions.

      1. Hi.
Just rang my local lexus and they wasn’t aware about anything you stated above also the link you provided have loads of departments so i have no clue wher to ring. In local Derby lexus they gived me a quote for catalytic and sensor for almost 1000f and they wasn’t aware about any catlock.
Houndreds of people reporting on this web side whats happening and you haven’t let any one aware that they are in risk. You runging every thay about MOT will expire soon but you can’t help your customers with Warning call.

        Bad name Lexus bad name.

        1. Hi Marcin,

Thanks for getting back in touch. We’re sorry to hear about that and would like to look into this further. We will email you directly in order to gain additional details in order to put you in touch with our customer relations team.

          Thanks.

          1. Just to make everyone aware.

Lexus Derby just rang me back, for my ct200h catalytic converter and senssor 1480f including fitting.

  31. I had my RX400H Lexus attacked outside of my house in Harpenden at 12.00p while eating lunch. I could not afford to replace it as was quoted 2k so had my local mechanic weld a pipe in place. Within a week my engine had the big ends fail. Im picking the attack might have create an oil leak issue? or bad luck. Either way, I had my Lexus for 6 years and I have to say I loved it, best car ever but I will never buy a Hybrid again. Can you let me know if the RX350 petrol or RX200T petrol have CATs? will these be targeted? Otherwise Ill have to look at an alternative brand.

    Thanks
    Paul

    1. Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are so sorry you have been impacted by this crime. Please be aware we are currently engaging with Home Office, Local MPs, Met Police (OVCU) and the Assistant Chief Constable of Cheshire Police (Jenny Sims) who is also the National Lead for all vehicle crime. All of this will raise the profile of this crime with all police forces and identify issues with current legislation.

We have also checked with our product team and both the RX350 and RX200T have catalytic converters. Questions about the motivations and tactics of criminals should be addressed to the police

      Thanks.

  32. Antoine at Lexus Twickenham has refused to honour the £750 price. He has advised the real cost is £1200. They do not participate in the £750 offer.

Please can you advise a dealership that will do this for £750. Do you have an approved list where we can take our cars?

    1. Hi Menesh,

Thanks for getting in touch. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We would like to investigate this further on your behalf with our customer relations team. We will email you directly in order to gain additional details and put you in touch with the team.

      Thanks.

  33. If you’re in London get a super catlock fitted by Europa Autos 137 Wandsworth Road. It’s actually a big envelope of steel around the cat, which would take an hour or more for a thief to cut through and need special tools. My local Lexus service centre recommended them. They’ve fitted 30+ with no thefts since. Much more effective than bike lock style catlocks.

    1. Thanks, Simon. I too am based in SW London and will look into this – could you advise whether this “super catloc” rattles at all? I have the “official” Catloc fitted and there is a pronounced rattle at low speeds. Thanks again!
