The second of the summer’s CarFest events takes place at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire this weekend and visitors to CarFest South can experience the 3D virtual reality world of Oculus Rift on the Lexus stand.
CarFest is the brain child of Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, who just over three years ago had a dream to create a fundraising event that celebrated his passion for fast cars, rocking music artists and a love of good cake. Now in its third year, CarFest 2014 is back with plenty of good honest fun and all in aid of BBC Children in Need.
Lexus is once again at CarFest and as well as being able to see much of the Lexus range of cars – including the all-new Lexus NX, the forthcoming RC F sports coupe and our supercar the LFA – guests to the Lexus stand can experience Oculus Rift.
Visitors don an Oculus Rift headset to take a virtual test drive of the new Lexus NX. As well as ‘seeing’ what the SUV is like to drive, you can also have a good look around the cabin, taking in the details of the interior and you can even peer up through the panoramic roof to the stars above.
CarFest South takes place on the farm belonging to former F1 champion Jody Scheckter. As well as the LFA, star cars at CarFest include Chris Evans’ Magnificent Seven collection of Ferraris, historic F1 cars and a host of muscle cars, rally cars and hot rods.
Music is an integral part of CarFest and headline acts over the weekend include Eliza Doolittle, Erasure, Kaiser Chiefs, Top Loader, Seasick Steve, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Jamie Cullum.
