The first of a double-header of CarFest events kick off at Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire this weekend, celebrating a winning mix of cars, music, family entertainment and food to help raise money for Children in Need.
CarFest is the brain child of Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, who just over three years ago had a dream to create a fundraising event that celebrated his passion for fast cars, rocking music artists and a love of good cake. Now in its third year, CarFest 2014 is back with plenty of good honest fun and all in aid of BBC Children in Need.
There will be no shortage of interest for those with a love of cars – Lexus is sponsoring CarFest and will have its full range on display, including the all-new Lexus NX SUV and our supercar, the LFA.
Chris Evans will bring his magnificent collection of Ferraris to CarFest, and they will be joined by an array of exotica including hot rods, F1 cars and rally cars, a variety of which will be taking to the track over the three days of the festival.
Away from the Track Sprint, the popular Showground will once again be packed with massive stunts and huge displays, while the Outdoor Play Area will be filled with the very best children’s entertainers and performers.
Britain’s Best Pavilion is another much loved CarFest attraction – it showcases food and drink created by small producers from throughout the UK. The equally popular Cakes v Pies competition returns, too, with judges again including TV personalities Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
A host of famous bands will also be strutting their stuff on the main music arena. This year’s bill toppers include Erasure, Eliza Doolittle, Simple Minds, Seasick Steve, Scouting for Girls, Jools Holland, The Feeling, 10cc, Chas & Dave, Jamie Cullum and Texas.
